The li-Anthawirriyarra Sea Rangers are working to eradicate cats from West Island, in the Gulf of Carpentaria, to restore the island’s native mammal populations. It is a big job, and one they have been carrying out for ten years.
Nicolas travelled to West Island to film and photograph this work, documenting the Rangers and their long effort to bring native wildlife back to the island. The finished video also includes additional footage contributed by the project, alongside the material captured on location.
The project has received support from Desert Wildlife Services, Territory Natural Resource Management and the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
