The Gold Coast Bioblitz is a weekend of wildlife surveys run by Watergum, a community conservation organisation. Held in the Numinbah Valley, it brings together volunteers, ecologists and families for two days of citizen science in the field.
Across the weekend, participants join guided surveys covering an enormous range of species, birds, reptiles, frogs, bats, fungi, gliders, crayfish, glow worms and more, working alongside enthusiastic experts to record the valley’s biodiversity. Alongside the surveys, a program of workshops, presentations and activities runs at basecamp, including dedicated surveys for younger participants.
Nicolas documented the event for Watergum, capturing the surveys, the landscape and the community of volunteers who make a bioblitz possible.
