The northern bettong is found in only a tiny section of Queensland’s Wet Tropics. It has declined severely over the past decade and now persists in just two locations.
Chris Pocknee, a PhD student at The University of Queensland, is working closely with the Queensland Department of Environment and Science to fill knowledge gaps about the impact of fire and feral cats on the northern bettong. The findings will be important in guiding recovery actions for the species.
