Land for Wildlife is a voluntary conservation program that supports private landholders across South East Queensland in protecting and managing wildlife habitat on their properties. Much of the region’s native habitat sits on private land, which makes the landholders who care for it central to the area’s conservation.
Land for Wildlife South East Queensland commissioned Nicolas to photograph three partner properties, each with its own landholders, for use across the program’s website and outreach material. The brief was to capture both the land itself and the people who steward it.
Across the three properties, the shoot combined ground photography with aerial work, documenting the landscapes, the habitat and the landholders at home on the country they look after.
